Sky Pencil Holly is one of the most fastigiate (upright, columnar) plants found in the nursery trade today. This holly grows 6-8 feet tall, but only 12-18 inches wide, making it the most perfect "flanking-the-garage" plant I know. It will maintain this columnar shape without pruning.

Seriously, it is the perfect plant to place at entrances or to provide height in narrow areas. The evergreen leaves are soft to the touch and the plant has few pests. Sky Pencil Holly also makes a great container plant and can be started when young in smaller pots and gradually moved up as it gets larger. Due to its narrow growth habit, it really doesn't make a good screen unless you plant a large number of them.

Grow Sky Pencil Holly in full sun to light shade. It does best in a loose soil that is well-drained. It is very drought tolerant once established.
