Plant Profile: Slender Hinoki False Cypress
(Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Gracilis')

The Slender Hinoki False Cypress is a great plant architecturally with its pyramidal upright shape, arching branches and deep evergreen flat needles. This is definitely a specimen plant that can be used as a focal point or at the back or edge of a garden for height. New growth emerges slightly red in the spring and the entire plant will become slightly bronze in the winter.

This particular cultivar will reach a mature size of 8-12 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide. It is somewhat slow growing, so planting a larger specimen may be in order.

Plant the Slender Hinoki False Cypress in full sun. The soil should be rich in organic matter and well-drained.
